HAI Adds Configuration by Room Update to HAI Home Control Systems
Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), the leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, announced a significant update for their controllers and interfaces, allowing configuration of items by room.
Now, homeowners will be able to use their iPhone, iPod, or iPad to quickly dial into a specific room. From one page, they can access everything in that room, including settings for lights, temperatures, audio/video, and more.
Using HAI’s PC Access software, dealers can provide custom room text like “Living Room”, “Master Bedroom”, and “Patio”, and classify which automated devices belong in every room. That information is then distributed to and accessible from every enhanced interface in the home. This enhancement will first be available for Snap-Link Mobile for iPhone, and will be incorporated into HAI’s other award-winning interfaces.
Additionally, the HAI controller will now store settings for the configuration of IP devices such as HAI Dock, HAI Music Gateway, and IP surveillance cameras. This allows easier and reduced installation times since supported interfaces can retrieve settings directly from the controller.
These new developments will be incorporated into HAI’s next controller firmware update, expected in September 2011. All items are backwards compatible. Users of Snap-Link Mobile for iPhone receive free upgrades.
“The room enhancement is particularly useful for large residences and small commercial spaces, some of which have over 200 lighting loads and dozens of thermostats”, explained HAI President, Jay McLellan. “This architectural change, along with the storing of installation settings, is an impressive installation development that for our dealers.”

HAI ZigBee MicroControl - Now Available
The ZigBee MicroControl (81A00-2WHZB) is a tabletop or wall mount unit used to display status for and control ZigBee devices. It features a timed Energy Saving Mode that allows you to put connected ZigBee devices into energy savings at the touch of a button.
The display on the MicroControl allows you to easily set up, install, and control the wireless ZigBee system. The environmentally-friendly internal backup battery in the MicroControl provides approximately 4 hours of active use power and up to 24 hours of power in sleep mode.
The Microcontrol lets you enact time-based schedules for temperatures, water heaters, air conditioning units, pumps, fountains, lamps, generators, and other devices. When used stand-alone: Automatically set back energy loads from 9AM-4PM during the week, having preferences restore an hour before returning home (to ensure a cool household, a piping hot shower, etc). Leaving unexpectedly? Press 1 button when walking out the door to put the devices into an energy savings mode. When you come home, press the button again, or set the items to automatically restore after a certain number of hours! At any time, you can use the MicroControl’s menu structure to dial into a particular load (pool pump), view its current status, and turn it on or off. You can even view the current draw (instantaneous consumption) of that device! This system is devised to reduce energy when you’re not home, and to reduce the phantom/vampire loads that occur all the time. Can be integrated into an HAI home control system for remote access.
